MIT RENOVATES 60 YEAR OLD CRANE BEAM WITH TROLLEY
A crane installation with a travelling crab in an old factory in Enschede has been disassembled, completely renovated and reinserted by MIT.
The former textile factory in Enschede, Tetem, had a 2-ton crane installation with a travelling crab from the inside out. The crane beam, an H-profile, hangs inside on the concrete beam and is standing outside on an A-frame. After years of vacancy the building is being renovated to accommodate the ArtEZ School of the Arts. Therefore, as reference to the past the crane installation is being cosmetically renovated. MIT has constructively restored the A-frame and the beam, and the trolley is completely dismantled, conserved and reassembled.
In addition to these crane installation MIT has also renovated an old fire hydrant and a water powered fire alarm. These elements of the past will also get a prominent place in the renovated building.
