BOOM OF TOWER CRANE REPAIRED
MIT has provided a new profile for the travelling trolley wheels of a tower crane from the 70’s along the entire length. MIT turned the boom of the crane back into its original condition again and managed to take away circumstances that would have ultimately affected the capacity of the crane.
The profiles of trolley beams were so ingrained that they had to be replaced before they would not meet the standards anymore. This required the entire boom to be dismantled. After all the old wiring had been disconnected, the boom was lifted and placed on blockages on the ground. Then, the profiles at the bottom half of the trolley beams in the boom have been replaced. This required the necessary expertise. After assembly, the completely restored boom was mounted again, re-wired and tested. With the necessary preparation this operation could be performed within 3 weeks.
