SLEW RING BEARING FOR DECK CRANE IN PNG
MIT has delivered a new slewing ring bearing for Bailey deck crane on a cutter dredger and exchanged it in Papua New Guinea.
The slewing ring bearing of the more than 35 year old deck crane appeared to have excessive play during an inspection and had to be replaced. After detaching the slewing ring bolts the complete superstructure was lifted off, the slewing ring was removed and put ashore. After that, the new slewing ring was placed with all new bolts, after which the superstructure was placed back again. Meanwhile, the gearbox slewing was overhauled with all bearings and seals renewed. All this in the burning heat of the Papua New Guinea inlands
After installation, the crane was commissioned and an annual inspection was performed.
